A new scheme to support your Village Hall
This Year a new scheme means that you can become a member of the ‘Westbury on Trym Village Hall Supporters’ and join those wanting to keep your Hall independent, busy and successful. Anyone can apply to become a member and it will not cost you anything because the Village Hall is run as a charity.
Members are not liable for the Charity costs – these are handled on behalf of the Charity Commission by a locally elected Management Committee.
So why become a member?
Becoming a member will show your support for the Hall and its future : an encouragement in uncertain times and a wish to keep it as a very important and independently run community asset in Westbury on Trym.
As a member you can come to meetings and participate in the running of the hall in the interests of local residents.
Having a local membership will help the Management Committee to raise funds. If the Management Committee applies for grants to maintain and improve this Grade II listed historic building, and can demonstrate public support for our Hall and all its activities, there will be a much greater chance of their being successful.
What Membership will involve
Any member will be entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting and any other members’ meetings held during the year. News on what is happening at the Hall will be available to members. At the AGM members elect the Management Committee members, including the Officers and Trustees, who bear responsibility for the conduct of business at the Hall and can receive and vote on the Annual report and Accounts.
On the Membership form, you are asked to indicate if you would be available to help at the Hall both on a regular or an occasional basis – but this is not a condition of being a supporter! Everything at the Hall is run by volunteers except the regular cleaning and in particular, the success of Bar sales at weddings and events helps to provide a major part of the income that keeps the Hall going for everyone in the locality
